[47]. Baron de Caseneuve, premier Seigneur d’Agoult, Seigneur de Simiane &c. D’Hozier lists the church donations. In a charter of donation, of 1018, made by the Comtesse of Provence (widow of Guillaume II) to the abbey of Saint-Victor de Marseille, he appears immediately after the sovereign, and even before the sons of the Comtesse, which shows clearly his high status at court. The castle and territory of Agoult (which became their family name) appears first on 30 Nov 1031 or 1032, in another church donation.
[17][C-D, XVIII, 596]. Seigneur d’Agoult & de Caseneuve. Took the surname d’Agoult. He confirmed, with his mother, the gift that his father made to the church of Apt in 1008. He gave, with his wife Alix, or Adelaide, to the Abbey of St. Victor of Marseille, several churces situated in the territory of Cavaillon, in January 1009.
