Notes for Emma Norgrove
Kate’s Aunt Emma. [50] Never married. A great gardener. Her house (i.e., the old family home at Dillon St, originally purchased by her parents) appears, with garden, in a number of old photograhs. Joan McNaught has an old colour painting of this house. (I have a copy). Mum and Kate agree that she was blind. Mum says she hooked her walking stick over a guide line to walk around.

Lived in Blenheim at that stage, but maybe lived in Wellington earlier. Kate’s account is not clear.

According to the Nelson Examiner of 26 December 1860, she won a class prize in the 1st Class, while her sister Kate won a class prize in the 4th class.
