Buried at the Carmelite Church.

He was killed at the Reduction of Guadeloupe, commanding the 63rd Regiment of Foot, blown up while defending the Fort of Basou Terre against the attack of the Enemy.

Letter from the Imperial War Museum and dated 11 Feb 1955:
".... with regard to Lt. Col. Thomas Desbrisay in Col. H.C. Wylly's "History of The Manchester Regiment (Late 63rd and 96th Foot), Vol. 1, 1758 - 1883" published by Forster Groom in 1923, there are several references to Lt. Col. Peter Desbrisay, who had formerly served in the 11th, 50th, and 52nd Regiments of Foot. On 11th of February 1759, he was appointed Governor of Fort Royal, Guadeloupe. On 23rd March he was killed during an attack by the French."
